If you think taking a helicopter to work is cool, you’re not alone. Madison is an Assistant Forestry Supervisor who spends much of her day in the field with her maps and her gear, collecting data and conducting establishment surveys. “Quadding is a regular part of my job to access other areas, as well as getting flown into a remote area and getting picked up at the end of the day,” said Madison. When the field work is done, she returns to the office to enter the data so that it can be used by operations managers to develop future harvesting plans – all part of the full circle of forest management. “We reforest every single block that we cut, every single tree that we cut, and then we do establishment surveys to ensure that every single tree we plant grows up to be a tree,” adds Madison.
