As an HR professional working in the forest industry, Jenna’s role is not confined to the office. “I have an opportunity to go out into the mill which helps keep my day diverse and interesting,” she said. Jenna feels it’s a really great way to have a strategic seat at the table but still be very people-facing. She sees HR as moving from what was once a transactional role into that of a key business partner position where you have influence to really be that bridge between employee and employer. She also sees how forestry touches everyone and adds, “It’s a much larger, more impactful industry in Alberta than I ever truly realized.”
