Through the Skills Awards for Indigenous Youth, Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) and the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers (CCFM) are proud to recognize and celebrate selected Indigenous youth for their skills development and career aspirations in the forest sector.
These awards are given to three individuals that exemplify the qualities of leadership, commitment to the forest sector, and a demonstrated commitment to the Indigenous community. Award recipients will have an opportunity to visit Ottawa with a Guardian—all expenses paid.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants for this award must be: First Nations, Inuit, or Métis; Between the ages of 18-30 (proof of age required); Currently enrolled in a post-secondary study program (e.g. apprenticeship, trades, college, CEGEP, university); Committed to their Indigenous community as demonstrated by action such as volunteering in the community; Interested in a career in the forest sector.
Submission Criteria and Evaluation
The nomination must include: Your full name, address and contact information (required); A description that outlines your commitment to your Indigenous community and your interest towards a career in the forest sector. Employment and volunteer experience may be included.
The submission should also include one reference
The reference must be from your academic institution and/or current employer (in the case of an apprenticeship).
