Certified Power Engineer – 4th Class

High Level, Alberta

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the 4th Class Power Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Energy System, Pollution Control Equipment, Fire Protection and Water Systems to ensure that established production levels are achieved.

Overview:

  • Initiates and implements projects for changes or additions to the above systems, while assuring adequate and safe performance to improve the operation’s efficiency
  • Liaison with external contacts including: Alberta Health and Safety representatives, Alberta boilers Safety Association inspectors, Alberta Environment inspectors, risk management consults, insurance carriers and others as required
  • Operates and maintains the complete energy system, including fuel systems, combustor cells, hot gas flows, primary and secondary thermal oil loops, and gas fired back-up heater systems
  • Operates and maintains the Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) pollution control equipment
  • Operates and maintains potable deluge water systems, and fire prevention extinguishing equipment
  • Assures 100% environmental compliance
  • Prepares and submits all required air, water, and soil reports to Alberta Environmental Protection
