Al-Pac is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Procurement professional to join the Materials Management team, working out of the Pulp Mill site. The Procurement Specialist will play an important role in developing, implementing, and maintaining strategic procurement processes to support the growth of the company. The position is accountable for creating extensive and detailed requirements specifications for the required products/services, tendering with potential suppliers, evaluating competing bids, and negotiating prices. Reporting to the Business Unit Leader, Materials Management, this position will partner with senior leaders to recommend solutions and deliver on the needs of each business unit, and ensure fulfillment in accordance with the SCM operational model.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the local, national, and international supply chain, knowledge and understanding of Indigenous peoples and cultures, and a strong understanding of materials and services procurement. We are looking for a professional with strong communication and collaboration skills, client service orientation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and complexities effectively.

This is a full-time, permanent position. Responsibilities:

• Procurement – Leading Business Unit Stakeholders and Buyers in building appropriately detailed requirements and specifications for the required products/services; build upon existing initiatives and developing new successful procurement tools and programs in pursuit of world class procurement efficiency and effectiveness; provide technical procurement expertise and guidance within the organization and particularly to Buyers

• Contract Management – Identify requirements and write specifications for existing and new
contracts; review contracts and agreements, editing and negotiating changes, being the first tier
approver of such and submitting for final approval to the appropriate level of leadership.

• Sourcing – Collect and analyze the key cost drivers, market dynamics and issues, areas of
innovation, and alternative suppliers, in consultation with business unit leaders to provide solid
market information for decision-making.

• Stakeholder Engagement – Partnering with stakeholders, finding out their needs/issues/concern
and responding to promote understanding and commitment; developing strategic procurement
solutions; assist buyers with stakeholder engagement.

Education & Experience:

• Post-secondary degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or in another related field.

• 7-10 years’ relevant experience in manufacturing, forestry, transportation, logistics, Customer Service, or Supply Chain Management

• Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining strategic procurement processes

• Experience in inventory planning / management, supply chain concepts, and related methodologies

• Experience in contract and competitive bid legislation

• Proven multi-tasking skills to handle multiple concurrent work items in a dynamic environment, under tight deadlines and requirements; strong decision-making skills and ability to work independently.

• Strong understanding of materials and services procurement as well as contracting and contract
deliverables.

•Global procurement and logistics experience considered an asset
