Foothills Forest Products is a two-line softwood-lumber sawmill and planer facility that is currently undergoing optimization. We currently have openings for 2 Summer Students to assist the Woodlands department on a temporary contract for 4 months (extension possible) starting in May 2022.
Successful candidates will spend most of their time in the field and are expected to work with a high degree of independence. Day-to-day tasks will be physically demanding.
The primary functions include, but are not limited to:
- Block boundary layout
- Tree Plant supervision
- Silviculture surveys
- GIS
- Mountain pine beetle program
- Road maintenance and inspection
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Enrolled/completed a forestry-related post-secondary program
- Class 5 driver’s license
- First Aid certificate
- Computer experience (Arcmap, Excel, GPS)
- ATV experience
- Previous forestry related experience is an asset
