The Energy Team Leader (2nd Class Power Engineer) is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a wood fired furnace, thermal oil heating system, steam generation system, Electrified Filter Bed (EFB) pollution control system as well as mill fire protection and water treatment plant to ensure established production levels are achieved within safety, budget, and quality goals.

The incumbent is accountable for the organization and supervision of all energy personnel and activities within the energy area. The Energy Team Leader will be the designated chief engineer, responsible of carrying out duties and requirements of the Alberta Boilers and Safety Act.  The key responsibility of this position is to ensure the mill meets and exceeds all regulatory requirements of our Environmental Operating License and regulations related to the safe operation of the plant and associated environmental equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory experience coupled with demonstrated ability to work effectively with others
  • Experience operating automated or computerized control systems
  • Experience operating a thermal oil system
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • 2nd Class Power Engineering Certification
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Experience with JDE or an alternative CMMS
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
