Hello All! My name is Catherine Ohler and I am honoured to be joining the Work Wild Community as a Forestry Educator. Based out of Calgary, I will be providing support to the organization by reaching out to the population of Southern Alberta to talk forests and forestry careers in Alberta! This position is a shared position with a partner organization, Inside Education, so I have spent September and October as an Educator out in the forest, talking to students about forest sciences and now I will shift my focus to Work Wild and forestry careers.

Growing up in Alberta, in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains, I have always had a passion for nature and the outdoors. In pursuing my interests, I studied Natural Resources Conservation in the Faculty of Forestry, at the University of British Columbia. With an undergraduate degree and some work experience under my belt, I went overseas to study, work, and travel while pursuing a Masters of European Forestry. After seeing and learning about the many nature and forest education programs that other forestry countries had to offer, my interests were piqued.

Upon returning to Calgary, I was extremely excited to discover this joint opportunity to work in forest education with both Work Wild and Inside Education. I am looking forward to sharing my passion and interests with students and career-seekers in Southern Alberta and hopefully assist others in finding a rewarding experience in forestry!
