As our Strategic Planner with the Grande Prairie division, you will be responsible for coordinating
divisional strategic planning activities as they relate to forest management planning and growth and
yield in Alberta. As part of the Woodlands group, you will work collaboratively with the Forestry
Superintendent and the Operations Superintendent to achieve the overall goals and objectives of the
division. This is a hybrid work environment with a mixture of office work and the occasional field work
out in the bush.

The life of the Strategic Planner includes:
• Coordination of environmental certification requirements including preparation and facilitation
of certification audits.
• Participation in the development and delivery of annual budgets, monthly cost projections,
and accruals. Performing regular grade checks to improve grade accuracy and out-turn.
• Ensuring adequate controls are in place to track, report, and correct non-conformances for
safety, quality, cost, and delivery results.
• Forest Management Plan development, assisting in the review and development of technical
aspects such as yield curves, net land base, and timber supply analysis.
• The Growth and Yield Program; management of Canfor Grande Prairie’s Permanent Sample
Plot (PSP) program and participation in Forest Growth Organization of Western Canada and
associated research projects.

In a perfect world, you come armed with your degree or diploma in Forestry, or a related field. You
are also eligible for registration with the Association of Alberta Forest Management Professionals
(AAFMP). For bonus points, you have strong computer skills and proven experience working with
external stakeholders such as contractors.
