We are currently seeking a full time, temporary Procurement Specialist within the Business Services Department. The Procurement Specialist is responsible for ensuring the most favorable vendor pricing and payment terms consistent with acceptable quality and availability, in the procurement of all materials and services for all the Mill’s operations. The term of this position will extend until December 31, 2023, with the possibility of extension.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Review planned orders and manage the approval process
  • Transmit and prioritize purchase orders and supporting documents to suppliers
  • Prepare and communicate shortages and backlog reports, and provide visibility of potential interruptions
  • Track orders and confirm system lead times, delivery dates, and costs
  • Review, update, and maintain purchase orders until they are closed
  • Ensure orders adhere to supplier agreements and contacts
  • Lead team members in resolving invoice discrepancies
  • Identify opportunities and implement actions to achieve efficiencies
  • Contribute to consolidation, reduction, and rationalization of the local supplier base
  • Source vendors of materials, equipment or supplies
  • Investigate invoice pricing variance from purchase orders and amend where necessary
  • Additional duties, as required

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completed Diploma or Degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain or similar field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Purchasing experience is required
  • Certificate in Supply Management (SMT) or Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation would be considered an asset
  • Good leadership and a team approach to business dealings
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) as well as facilitation, analytical, and problem solving skills are required
  • Experience in an industrial maintenance/production setting is preferred
  • Fosters a sense of urgency, priorities and allocates time appropriately to complete assigned tasks
  • Identifies and anticipates internal customer requirements, expectations and needs
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in Google G-suite, more specifically Google Sheets
