Millar Western Forest Products Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Leader to join our management team. Working out of our Whitecourt Pulp Division, in Whitecourt, Alberta, this individual will work collaboratively with leadership throughout the organization to enhance and anchor our safety culture. The role will encompass a combination of strategic planning, policy development, implementation and auditing of corporate/site standards and initiatives, as well as the tactical implementation and maintenance of our safety system at an operational level.

The ideal candidate

The preferred candidate will have a CRSP designation and/or be a graduate from an accredited post-secondary institution in a related field of study, with a minimum of five years of safety leadership experience in a manufacturing/production environment. They will possess a thorough knowledge of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation, and Code, have experience with WCB claims management and appeals processes, and experience in risk management. Previous auditing experience and an ability and willingness to obtain PIR auditor accreditation through the Alberta Forest Products Association are required. Above all, the successful candidate will be passionate about safety and demonstrate an ability to lead and influence others in support of our safety culture.
