Millar Western’s Whitecourt Woodlands Division is seeking a Silviculture Supervisor.  Reporting to the Forestry Superintendent, the Silviculture Supervisor will work as part of a team responsible for conducting sustainable forest management operations supplying fibre to our lumber, pulp and specialty wood products facilities.  He or she will play a lead role in implementing planting, site preparation, regeneration survey, mechanical and chemical stand tending and tree improvement programs.  Additional responsibilities will include supervision of road reclamation activities, involvement in budgeting and forecasting for the silviculture program and assessing the effectiveness of silviculture strategies in relation to plan targets.

The ideal candidate

Ideal applicants will have a post-secondary education in forestry, combined with several years of experience in operational silviculture.  This position will require extended hours during peak periods.  Candidates must be eligible for registration with the Association of Alberta Forest Management Professionals (AAFMP).  Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are essential.  Experience with GIS and GPS systems and the ISO 14001 and SFI certification standards, would be considered assets.
