The Plant Protection Technician is accountable for: (1) the operation and maintenance of the Fire Protection Systems and security of the Plant Site, including the use of equipment (e.g. fire truck, hoses, pumps, dry valves) as required to prevent loss due to fire; (2) identifying and prioritizing all possible loss prevention activities (including environmental issues); (3) monitoring the operation of the burner to ensure proper function, and (4) that employee safety, company assets and the environment are adequately protected.  The Plant Protection Technician will ensure that Fire Protection Systems are operational and that the emergency response systems are activated when required.

Qualifications:

  • This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and good computer skills.
  • Ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders
  • A sound understanding of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Alberta Fire Code is important.
  • The successful candidate must have the physical ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 4 on/4 off swing shift.
