Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and supportive team player for the role of Systems Analyst. The Systems Analyst (SA) provides support for the administration and maintenance of Al-Pac’s infrastructure applications, including the Land Resource Manager (LRM) and various custom applications. Monitoring the performance and security of services is essential to ensure efficient operations and to meet business and service requirements. The SA delivers technical support which includes the development, configuration, testing, implementation, integration, and management of systems and applications. This position works with internal clients and teams to implement and support the delivery of new services and provide ongoing troubleshooting and technical support to ensure availability, efficiency, and security of systems and applications.

This is a permanent position working Monday-Thursday at our mill site office. Responsibilities:

Application Administration & Monitoring: Provides Land Resource Manager (LRM) support and maintenance including product and vendor management. Provides support for custom applications. Ensures all systems adhere to technical guidelines and best practices. Develops and tests disaster recovery plans for critical services to ensure business continuity.

Programming: Performs scripting and programming, and report writing. Creates, implements, and refines scripts and tools to allow for effective automation, monitoring, and maintenance of services.

Technical Support: Liaises with clients and provides technical support as needed. Troubleshoots issues affecting users and performs root cause analysis. Works with vendors to develop and implement solutions to problems. Provides rotating on-call support.

Development & Implementation of New Services/Systems: Provides technical consultation and strategic advice to clients on the development of upgrades and implementation of new technology and information systems.

Database Management: Develops, configures, and maintains the performance of GIS and other databases. Develops processes to optimize database performance and sets and maintains database standards. Diagnoses and troubleshoots database issues. Creates and manages databased reports.

Research & Planning: Contributes to the development of long-term strategic planning. Works with clients to identify needs and works with vendors to design architectures that meet technology and business needs. Executes project work plans and suggests revisions as needed to support changing requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience with ESRI tools (ArcGIS, ArcServer, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and Portal).
  • Experience with the development and implementation of quality controls and standards, including operating procedures for management, production, and processing of GIS data.
  • Must have knowledge of database management and design concepts.
  • Experience with the following would be considered an asset:
    • Land Resource Manager
    • Oracle
    • SQL
    • Scripting with Python
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction, as well as within a team.
  • Previous change management and document management experience.
